The Jaxson Gingras Memorial Bursary is being offered to children with communication delays to help them find a voice. The funds are intended to provide much needed financial aid for families hoping to give their child a way to communicate with others.
Eligibility
Applicants must be permanent residents of British Columbia.
Applicants must have a documented, significant difference in communication ability. For example: a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder, or apraxia of speech.
Applicants’ families must complete an application form and provide a written quote from the ASD Wonder or The Wonder Society detailing the amount of funding required, and how it will be spent. Funding will be paid directly to the service provider on the family’s behalf.
Criteria
Applicant’s family has demonstrated a commitment and adherence to a proposed, evidence-based goal plan/schedule of therapies.
Applicant’s family is strongly committed to alternative and augmentative communication for speech and language.
Granting Process
Application for a maximum of $3000 per child accepted. Applications must be supported with a written quote detailing how the funds will be spent.
Applications will be accepted between September 1 - November 1 each year. Bursary recipients will be notified by November 30.
Services/equipment purchases etc., will not proceed until a letter of approval is received, and should begin no sooner than January 1.
Upon receiving an invoice or original receipts/proof of purchase etc., suppliers and/or service providers will be directly reimbursed.
